Masokolara Team from Attridgeville were declared Champions of 2019 Tournament after beating Dream Teams, Mamelodi 1-0. This happens after B3 and All Mamelodi Stars Foundation hosted an even to honour legend Jan Malombo Lechaba from the 19 April to 22 April 2019.

“I feel that we did a good job as it was our first tournament honoring legend Mr Malombo Lechaba, we are planning to honour many more legends in future, we showed other townships that is it possible to invite teams outside Mamelodi, Mamelodi community responded positively as they came in numbers to support the tournament, everyone looked happy,”, said one of the team Managers, Mr Charles Mawai.

He added saying “We as a foundation we promote football and social responsibility and we are here to help in anyway we can in all sports not only football.

Under 17 also took part in the tournament as well as 2 Netball Teams from both East and West side of Mamelodi and Mamelodi West were declared champions of the tournament.

“For a team outside Mamelodi to come and win the tournament shows that we are transparent and fair to every team, we give a trophy to team that deserves and worked for it, we don’t take sides or do favors”, said Mr Charles Mawai.

Mamelodi goalkeeping academy rendered their service to goalkeepers before the games began. Legends such as Godfrey Sapude and Edward Motale were there to support the tournament.

“As a sports person you need to sacrifice a lot, time is essential, you can’t be a good player if you don’t sacrifice your time. There will be challenges in life they will face as young people but as a player You must know what you want and that you are an entertainer and there are a lot of things that you be can’t be part of. Discipline is key, need to look after their body, see what they eat and drink to keep the body going. Being a star we retire at a certain age but most retire early because they don’t practice healthy lifestyle. Football can change lives of these young people if they take it serious”, Said Mr Malomba Lechaba.

Teams Performance:

1st Semi finals, Masokolara 3-1 Seboga, Goal Scorer, Leroy Ntlapo, Solom Mojerola and Ntlantla Mhlanga.

2nd Semi finals, Dream Team 2-0 Limpopo City, Goal scorers: Tshepo Shoutja, Keshiro Zaka and man of the match, Jan Delangu.

Quarter finals, Masokolara won 5-4 penalties and Dream Team vs Chego won 5-4 penalties.

Final Match, Masokolara vs Dream Team 1-0 Goal scorer Thabo Mahlangu, Man of the match Pule Matlokotsi.

Masokolare from Attrigville won R50 000, Dream Team Mamelodi R 25 000, Seboga Team, Mahmelodi and Limpopo City received R 5000 each.

100’s Turned Up For Honoring Legend Jan Malombo Lechaba

Mamelodi Community Responded Positively to Tournament

Jan Lechaba Malomba hosted an event from 19 April to 22 April 2019 in Mauklenuek sports grounds, Mamelodi West. This happened after B3 Insurance Brokers and All Mamelodi Stars Foundation joined together to host in celebrating legend Lechaba. This was to encourage kids in Mamelodi to participate in sports. “We starting this initiative to respond to the community of Mamelodi, saying thanks to the people of  Mamelodi and promoting football”, said Mr Malomba.

The legend visited Mamelodi with the aim to identify talents and give kids courage that they can make it in sports. “It is not only about Malombo, is giving back to the community and taking kids away from drugs and streets.
“We have to expands this initiative, this is the first one in Mamelodi, is the fist year of the initiative and the respond of the people is good since the first day we launched it until finals which is today , I’d like to thank Mamelodi people for supporting the event.

About 100 members in the community turned up to support this event and many of their responds to the game was positive as they came in numbers from day 1 of the tournament. “This is the first event I saw legends in Mamelodi, I’m really pleased for seeing such an event bringing people in the community together”, said one of the community member and sports fan, Tsiamo Matlala. He added that this initiative will make a greater impact into the lives of current and future soccer starts.

“The purpose for us to this event is to promote football, we are not only promoting tournaments, through the Mamelodi all starts foundation we are looking at promoting the games where by we will be identify talents and as footballers after the tournament we are willing to do this tournament every year, we will be doing soccer clinics to motivate this kids”, said Mr Malombo.“If we find people watching football for more than 6-7 hours, then you can say you have done something for the community because they are here watching the game you brought to them, we are keeping them busy of which we are happy about. Seeing people smiling, watching the game, enjoying themselves it makes me happy, It’s something that I am proud of. We wish the Mamelodi stadium to be functional we hope that it will be ok one day to use for everyone to be sited and watch football comfortably and I wish our kids to take sports seriously, to let sports be their lives and live a healthy lifestyle” , said Mr Malombo. During the 3 days tournaments, different teams from different areas and province played against each other from semi finals until they made it to the finals as well as 2 Netball Teams from both Mamelodi East and West.

Mr Malombo also said people including retired legends shouldn’t keep the skills for themselves and they need to plow back. He added that he is open for communication and assist NO’s and other football association in the community, “We are open for NGO’s who wants to grow young kids in sports, but they must have a proper structure of what they do and where we could be of help”, said Mr Maloka. He added saying sponsors need to see where their money is going and how it is going to be used then they will be interested. Donators of the tournament including chairs, tents, David Maboja, Andrew Kambule, Makhura from Don Don. The next tournament is expected to take place the following year, 2020.
