Residents of Mahube Valley extension 1 and those who lives in the informal settlement had a protest on June 22 2017, where many of them from both communities lost their homes. Resident had a clash due to illegal connection of electricity by the residents in the informal settlement. City Of Tshwane shared on their official page that on the 28 June 2017, the city under Mandla Nkomo, the leadership of Member of the Mayoral Committee for Housing and Human Settlement held a committee meeting with representatives of the Mountain View informal settlement following a violent clashes that happened two weeks ago between formal home owners from Mahube Valley Extension 1. It is confirmed that resident in Mahube didn’t attend the meeting raising safety issues. The MMC said that he will meet with them separately and proceeded with those from the informal settlement.  It is resolved that the city team commence the shack marking and registration of house holds in Mid July 2017.  The progress made to create Mahube Valley and Tshwane by commitment of executive Mayor include, installation of new 11KV feeder cable to Mahube Valley is completed, the team were testing the cables on Friday before it was commissioned. They have repaired all 14 vandalised water metres at Mahube Valley and water was restored. The city had obtained a court order to ban the residents from the informal settlement from connecting illegally on the service infrastructure and also not to vandalise the infrastructure. The city continues to engage the community in finding the sustainable solution between the two communities, within the confines of the law.
